GAMEO Article Stipends

The Historical Commission of the US and Canadian Mennonite Brethren Churches announces $50 to $100 stipends for writers who submit encyclopedia articles featuring Mennonite Brethren persons, congregations, or institutions that are accepted for publication by the Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online (GAMEO) editors. Applicants from outside of the US and Canada are also eligible to apply for the stipend. The amount of the stipend will depend on the writer’s region and the type of article written.

Those considering submitting a GAMEO article are asked to go to gameo.org, click on the “help” tab, select desired language, and familiarize themselves with the template guidelines, including word count, for the particular genre of article they plan to submit. Stipends are available for three types of articles: biographies, congregational histories, and institutional histories.

To apply, contact Alf Redekopp, associate editor of GAMEO, indicating your proposed article topic. After receiving authorization from Alf to proceed, send notice of your intention to Jon Isaak, Executive Secretary, Historical Commission, 1310 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3M 3Z6.

Applicants will be informed as to whether there is still money in the stipend fund and, if so, a submission deadlines and a stipend amount will be determined. After writing, submitting (with English translation, if the article is written in a language other than English), and securing an approval from Alf Redekopp for the encyclopedia article, send proof of acceptance to Jon Isaak to initiate payment of the stipend.
